About Sandra Simmons

Sandra Simmons is a certified family nurse practitioner with over nine years of experience in healthcare caring for pediatric and adult populations. Sandra earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree at Stevenson University. After completion of her BSN degree, Sandra cared for in-patient post-operative orthopedic patients as well as postoperative gastrointestinal and oncology procedures. Sandra recently completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore where she gained comprehensive clinical expertise in various healthcare settings through rigorous clinical rotations.

Sandra's clinical skills are complemented by her prior leadership experience as a charge nurse and preceptor, where she successfully guided and mentored new nurses. In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Sandra is also recognized for her academic excellence, holding a GPA of 3.95 in her DNP program, and being a recipient of the DAISY Award and Josie King Hero Award at UM St Joseph Medical Center.

Sandra is committed to providing high-quality care and improving healthcare outcomes, particularly in underserved communities, as demonstrated by her involvement in volunteer work and the Maryland Area Health Education Center Scholars Program while in her DNP program. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, yelping, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
